Mr. Nurul Islam Khalifa

Independent Director

Mr. Nurul Islam Khalifa has been appointed as an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of the Bank on August 27, 2024 through the reconstitution of the Board of the Bank by Bangladesh Bank.

Mr. Khalifa was born on February 05, 1954 in a respectable Muslim family at Barisal, Bangladesh. He completed his BA from University of Dhaka in 1976 and MA (Islamic History & Culture) from National University.

He joined in the services of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC in 1985 as a Senior Officer. He has a wide range of experience in Islami Banking as Branch Manager, Zonal Head, Head of different Divisions & Wings of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. He worked as a member of Focus Group constituted by Bangladesh Bank for preparation of the Guidelines for conduction of Islamic Banking in Bangladesh.

He served as Director General of Training & Research Academy of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. He also served as Deputy Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. He attended many workshops and seminars arranged by national and international organizations at home and aboard. He has traveled widely in different countries of the world.

At present, he is the Principal of Training & Research Institute of Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC, one of the largest bank of Bangladesh.
